Pond fountains
Using solar energy can sometimes be fickle, and using
solar to generate energy for pond fountains is no different. In order
to combat and remedy these potential problems, here are some of the
issues that people who have pond fountains struggle with.
• No flow – This can be frustrating but
it is a fact that this problem is usually fairly simple to fix. Usually
the problem associated with this is that the pump has become somewhat
detached from the tubing. This can occur during the times when the pump
moves around and is not flat. All that needs to be done is a simple
reconnection.
If you try this and it does not seem to work, you may just want to see
if there is any debris in the pond fountains. Dirt or other items in
the tubes can adversely affect the flow of water.
• The pump makes strange noises – If there
are strange sucking noises coming from the pump, there is a good possibility
that the water level has become too low for the pond fountains to work
properly. The noise comes because the tubing is sucking in air as well
as water. It’s kind of like you trying to get the last few drops
out of a milkshake as you suck it through a straw.
• Overflow – When you have fountains that
operate on solar energy, it is important to have enough water, but not
too much. The fountains that have too much water to start off with are
the ones that tend to overflow. A good rule of thumb is that the water
should not go much higher than about three-quarters of an inch from
the rim of the basin.
